Forty-six apartments and studios above ground-floor workshops, built around the last standing kiln chimney.
Kiln Works is the largest project we’ve taken on: three new buildings set around the last chimney of the old brickworks, with homes above and workshops below.
Homes above, work below
The ground floors hold eight workshops and studios, let on long leases to makers already working in Kiln Yard. The apartments above have dual-aspect plans, deep balconies and windows sized for good daylight.
Progress
Blocks A and B are weathertight and interior fit-out is under way. Block C follows in 2027. First completions are expected this winter.
Architectural concept
Respect the chimney. The three buildings step down towards it, so the chimney stays the tallest thing on the site and the courtyard around its base becomes a public square.
