About Oriel
We make and sell homes the way we’d want to live in them.
Oriel began as a small architecture studio that kept being asked to find homes for its clients. Today we develop a handful of buildings at a time and represent a short list of homes we admire.

Our story
From a drawing office to a developer.
Fifteen years, five developments and one small team. A short history, written plainly.
2011
A drawing office in the Old Town
Oriel began as two architects in a rented room above a bookbinder, drawing extensions and the occasional new house.
2016
Our first restoration
Clients kept asking us to find them homes worth restoring. We bought the first one ourselves: a chapter house that is now four apartments.
2020
An agency, almost by accident
Selling those apartments taught us how poorly most homes are described. We opened a small agency to do it properly.
2026
Five developments, one team
Today we develop a few buildings at a time and represent a short list of homes we admire. We are still above the bookbinder.

Architecture before amenities
A good plan, honest materials and daylight outlast any list of amenities. Every project starts there.

Fewer, better homes
We take on a small number of buildings and listings at a time, so each one gets proper attention.

Plain dealing
Prices, fees and running costs are explained in writing. If a home has a flaw, we tell you before you find it.

We stay involved
On our own developments a named person looks after you through an aftercare period after you move in.
